Paddy hills

Paddy Hills was a great experience ( despite the horrendous parking ) and seeing how my foodie friend has revisited this place numerous times in the past months, it certainly warrants a visit, and boy was it an interesting lunch/brunch
Suggest you come here after 1130....then can try both the breakfast ( which ends at 5) and lunch menu

This was their version of a small breakfast , but boy does this humble do pack a punch.
Polenta, roasted mushrooms, poached egg.
Comfort food with a luxe twist.

Squid ink tagliatelle, with roe and scallop. Love the crisp rice bits.
Kimchi fried rice with hangar steak
Would be back just to have their steak !

Eyeing their double digit noodles for dinner- lobster soumen, udon and beef noodles. Would be back

Kitchenette brunch

Scrambled eggs and veal sausage. Eggs were upsized cos we omitted one side. If you don't fancy your eggs overtly creamy you would be a fan of these.
Steak sandwich with avocado spread on ciabatta bread. This is a really well done sandwich. A well marinated steak on a lightly toasted bread.

Perfect for a quick and simple home made meal in a cosy setting. Service was earnest and forthcoming. Families here are clearly repeat visitors. We will be one of them :)

Patisserie G

The egg dishes at Patisserie G ( Millenia Walk).
Baked eggs with gruyere cheese- cheese got really dense towards the end ( perhaps, on cooling ). Brioche was the airiest and most crisp I've had.
Creamy scrambled eggs for the gran and the croissant here is highly recommended - very well done !

Would be back for the cakes;)

The missing pan

Finay got to try The Missing Pan ( Bukit timah Road) one PH after getting scared off the queue once. Parked at J's old place before walking along the canel to the cafe.

Ang Moh quacker oats. Still prefer the museli at gaest.

Green eggs royale ( from the avocado spread). Oh the poached salmon was melt in your mouth.
Confused French toast.. Slice the thick toast open and you find chicken cooked Chinese style. Smoked maple by the sides.

Tiny little shophouse along the same row as Choupinette, opened by the folks behind upper crust. Recommended by J's colleague - quite a queue, you can only use chope ! On weekdays and weekend evenings and not on Sundays.

Bought some Rosti at the deli whilst waitig for j. Can't wait to try it out!

Gaest

A long queue at the missing pan led us to this gem on May Day recommended by a colleague( with much thanks !), Gaest ( McCallum Street). It's a smallish Nordic deli, right at the end of Telok Ayer Street. We passed by my awesome cafe which is also on my to try list;)
Perched on the high stools facing the road. Awesome people watching..
One of the best muesli I had.. Super value for money at 7 bucks, a huge ass portion !
Danish omelette from the full breakfast- it's like a tortilla ( Spanish omelette) layered with potatoes. I must say the Nordics are fans of potatoes.
Even the sandwich had potatoes.. This is a flavorful yet light vegetarian sandwich with a hazelnut spread. Interesting find.

The bread is home made every morning and has this chewy, cake like texture. The set came with caramel and Brie cheese and we made a new discovery - bread tasted awesome with both dips( together!)

Would be nice if I worked at the CBD and had a chance to try their sandwiches. These were from their brunch menu which is only available on the weekends ( which has more egg dishes)

Ronin

Met the chongs at Ronin ( Hong Kong street ) a beautifully done up coffee- bar where the lights are warm, place is done up with plenty of wood and there are no menus. Cash only, by the way.

The wicked is their signature drink, a lovely minty mocha. Worth coming back for

Mushrooms and cheese. Love the crusty bread lots.
The creamiest scrambled eggs I've had in awhile. You can choose to add the option of avocado or portabello etc.
French toast ( brioche) with caramelised apples. Nice if you like soggy bread - I prefer my crisp.

Strolled to shop at granny's day out and Payless shoe source that was in the vicinity.. Can't wait for Ibiza and tmrland:)

Hoopla

I'm back at media circle !

Back to try Hoopla (21 Media circle)'s eggs- I had the baked eggs and P had the eggs Benedict. Mine were doused in a steaming rich tomato stew, and it was great dipping the chicken poppers (our side dish) in. Lovely quotes and flowers line the tables and random vintage accessories galore all over this homely place. It's awesome to spend a quiet afternoon here with great company especially during this long Easter weekend!

Gonna pick up my new gold ray bans !

Sarnie's

Full weekend round plus an AST tutorial meant breakkie with miss pek post tutorial :) finally went to try Sarnie's (Telok Ayer Street) - australian slang for sandwiches. They have a weekend menu of eggs and such, none of those regular sandwiches on weekends. And I heard evening nights they offer specials... It's a must to come back !

Granola to share as usual, and it's home made and swimming in honey and berries:)

Omelette with cheese onions and mushrooms. Well done and not too oily , on a piece of rye bread.
Pek had beans on toast, with a fried egg.
Amazing coffee too, with a buzz similar to those cafés in Australia. Shopped a bit and got tempted by those python shoes down the street..
Can't wait for the next date here !

Penny university

Breakfast food for dinner !day before laneway when we were supposed to collect the -unbought- tickets and this was the supposed brunch that was I happen but didn't cos of the mishap!

Well mishap number one occurred cos I left one half of my flips in the car park :( the tennis date was converted to a Eastie foodie outing to Penny university ( East Coast Road). It was between this and mad nest it's neighbour ( too diversified) but we settled for this. It closes at midnight on Fridays! Reminds us muchos of the Fabulous Baker Boy ( beef churizos here and beef bacon at FBB hurrah). A very barren indie vibe here.
Granola with yoghurt and the soy mocha
Baked eggs with beef churizos. Has a spicy curry zing to it and was fantastic with toast. We asked for more toast and they gamely gave us more free toast :) thumbs up indeed
Croque madame- thick layer of cheese atop turkey ham... This is dense indeed.
Apple pie with the fantastic ( air fried ?? Tastes familiar to those at home :p) apple slices and minimal pastry and cream. The other flour less chocolate cake was rather powdery and gritty... Was gonna take away to have it with our praline ice cream but gasp !! It disappeared at home !! :p

We saw two very puffy sandwiches and I went to Kay poh... They are rolling out this egg white soufflé omelette with cheese bits, smoked salmon and brioche toast. Gosh !! It's so good, the chef let us sample a slice. Would go back for this !!

Moosehead

We finally tried out Moosehead( Telok Ayer street)! On a drizzly day, we were feeling very toasty sitting at the bar right in front of the infamous charcoal oven... Great entertainment watching the chefs in action and having them host us and ensuring we were well fed, checking on us from time to time... He being the toastiest of us all ;) service here is absolutely wonderful.
Charcoal grilled eggplant... Very smoky. They really throw everything into the oven including the bread ( which was really crisp)
J's favorite - grilled octopus... One long tentacle real meaty and smoky. Crinkly tomatoes and baked baby potatoes topped it off. And we found out they put olive oil as a finishing touch in almost every dish:p from a mysterious red bottle.
Smashed eggs with truffle and onions and melt in your mouth mushrooms. I love eggs served in a pan,and this is indeed one beautiful breakfast mess.
Seabass all grilled to perfection. Love the skin.
Wagyu shoulder -tender towards the centre but our soft spot is still the onglet from burnt ends :p
Grilled pineapple, crumble , coconut yoghurt and j's favorite meringue. And that mysterious apricot layer

Menu changes as and when the chef pleases though they keep the crowd favorites. This is prob one of our favorite for now ;)

Coffee man roasters

Turkish breakfast- pita bread with battered egg, hummus and cheese balls, this was one vegetarian delight. Jill's had the French toast while Clare had the vegetarian breakfast - do note that they will chase you to the coffee bar if you dwell at the dining tables beyond your meal times! Nice coffee bar though , your partner ( who is facing you)  will be at an elevated platform. Interesting layout of the bar, communal tables and individual dining tables. Can't wait to try the Argentinian place upstairs !

Kith (quayside isle)

Thanks to the Paris trio for asking me out to finally check out Kith at sentosa( where wans is a regular !!). Lovely hearty portions indeed, and the cakes look worth a try next time. Took a stroll round W and one degree 15 though it was way too hot. Finally booked  more Japan stuff today before dinner. Looking forward to more leisurely strolls ;)

The Fabulous Baker Boy

Wow ! Am a big fan of The Fabulous Baker Boy at The Foothills, Fort canning park. Visited a vintage sale at Bacchanalia at the masons club (actually thought we could brunch there but they only had bar food for the boys!) then browsed furniture and lomocameras at Armenian, before we headed here.

It has a huge terrace for al fresco dining - groups of friends and families here, even a group of cosplay girls- made for quite interesting people watching. We perched on the stools looking out to the road facing Clarke Quay ( only 4 seats here, seems like its only meant for 2 couples at a time).

This big breakkie has got to be the best ever. Pure joy with eggs, brioche, beef bacon, mushrooms all together in one mouthful!!
The Guiness beef pie was a little sinewy - the beef. Was spying on the pumpkin goat cheese salad at my neighbour's.
Visited the public flea market at the MICA building after - loads of art galleries and even an art gallery dedicated to Singa lion and all his friends ( who are now extinct, by the way). Was quite happy to see Oriole there so I could get my mocha  fix ( fab didn't serve mocha cos they were purist lol)

We were so impressed with fab baker boy we bought cakes to Js house for dinner - the carrot cake and red velvet was huge , generous , and most delicious. Highly recommended!!

Strangers reunion

Brunch two weekends in a row at the same place, in scrubs. Respite outside is always great, especially when two is company and three is a welcome crowd;) thanks for being a sport y'all;)
Magic first weekend, soy mocha second weekend and I'm a new fan of the eggs royale here ( after the yoghurt which has sadly lost its bulk of the granola). If you order eggs here, you should come in groups of two for they only have two stoves in their tiny kitchen ! Everything is tiny weeny here, their chairs (or rather stools ...) , tables etc... Can't wait for them to expand :)

Hatched

Slept in on Vesak and managed to roll out for breakfast /brunch/lunch / tea at a grand time of 3 pm. The late night at music matters was quite a killer:p

We went to Hatched at Holland Village - after we thought that the Park menu was too tiny( but I will still try that place sometime ). I had my usual eggs royale and j had a burger with eggs. I ordered a portabello mushroom and eggplants thinking it was an appetizer but it turned out to be a main-
Burger style. Kinda overkill before Tennis but thank goodness it was not another killer. Thanks garmaine for having us over, we didn't make it to Boyce in the end :p

Jewel Coffee ( Rangoon Road)

Date with short after the meadows party with Chongs with atb and Marcus Schultz - my second breakkie food after macs ( and an awesome massage at Tang Dynasty out first 24 hour parlor visit )

Gotta love the soy mocha here ( Chongs !! Our soy coffee saga will continue here !) . Truffle mushroom soup was also great - will be better with bread.

Love the gratinated hollandaise sauce with my eggs florentine, had a nice crisp. Nat clearly enjoyed her capellini and we actually wanted to try the Octopoke salad ( which she eventually did and sent me the what's app photo which I very enviously put up cos it's so gorgeously plated!)

Revisit coming up soon. Such a meddie gathering , saw 2 mos( and H whom I bumped into at the one shenton outlet - we are big fans of jewel) and one retired fellow colleague. Admire the guts to drop a pre set path for a untrodden one to chase her dreams. All the best, join ya one day :-)
