Glorious Sunday - L'etoile, Lantern

Night before was with the Chongs at 83/Av so was quite knocked out so brunch became lunch. To shaw today! Both working women then congregated to chill at L'etoile (Owen Road) a stones throw away (haha, the radius just becomes wider and wider right woman?). It was a very pleasant, bright level one (didnt manage to explore level 2 enough, where there is the sewing machine), with merchandise sold, mainly local produce- bought two (loved and cranky) and another paper wallet which I thought matched my other pouch made of plastic bags. So into environmentally friendly stuff. lol.
The crepes (sadly) ran out, and even the bagel. Normally the eggs benedict would be done on a bagel - but its done on toast today instead. Replaced the ham with salmon. Hollandaise sauce was a bit too tangy/sour for us though! Quite on an eggs roll. I should learn how to poach eggs nicely. and of course, perfect that hollandaise sauce. Okay homework for the end of the year.

French toast - cardinal sin..no maple syrup!!When we asked for extra syrup they actually gave us CLEAR sugar syrup. Our look of dismay earned us some honey so this became really drowned in honey. Mmm. all this is missing is prob the sea salt caramel sauce I gave you, babe.

Waffle with sea salt caramel icecream. Extremely chewy and reminds K of the belgian waffle. Not the toasty crisp kind I like.

Headed back pronto for the new ad, and for an hour at the step down unit before we headed down to Bali lane for more! Thanks much much for your oliverio slides (hahahaaha)

Avocado gula melaka, Salted caramel with almond. at Pluck (Haji lane) Next to my long dress, along with my buys of a hoops (hard to read) watch from a second bicycle shop, and the silver earrings. Shiok love the knick knacks and accessories here. Real interesting looks (and buys!) Love the love book in Threadbare and squirrel. Thinking of asking them if its on sale. Heart it.

Of cos we got braver and headed to a few stones throw away in a bid to satisfy the fries craving. Its gotta be the truffle fries from Lantern (Fullerton Bay Hotel)! had our own day bed (replacing yours, K...haha) right at the corner -so much so that we could tell when there was a switch from cd to live. Haha. Peanuts much much.

The last time I was here was also on a Sunday (but in the day) with grandma... we had the open face anchovies sandwich which they didnt have now...guess the menu has changed. Lantern is just so quiet and chill on Sundays. Love it.

Mini wagyu beef burgers. For a small patty it really packs succulence.

Smoked duck spring rolls. Good stuff- crisp, salty. Everything we like.

The night almost went up in smoke cos i thought i lost my ray bans (i actually went by bali lane again...the prominent parking lot is most unnerving) but thank goodness the next morning when i was less blind i found it. Its only when you lose something that you realise how things are so easily taken for granted. Thank goodness ;)

Dann's Cafe

Week of short days, feels like passive income somwwhat. Lap chole, followed by a conversion (big faux pas pushing up and inadvertent ripping but thats not the cause of it!) cos of deficient post wall, followed by pseudo l maj lump that took 5 min, longer time for the anaes (and DA rash too!) and update than the actual. Resisted the break to eat (thanks mok for the soy/pancakes), and headed out to Dann's Cafe (Eastwood Centre) that Teck Wee has been raving about the alkaline coffees.

Parked my car at army camp car park, to the arrival of 2 carpark attendents, and then arriving to the restaurant with the chef's daily moods board on my seat... the above is unfair treatment to TW... only heart heart. i HEART the flat white. Possibly the best i've had here, nutty and natural sweetness from the milk. Mmm lovely. Would be back just for this.

And btw, even the tap water is alkaline!

Fish and mushroom cheese Tortilla wrap - not exactly a wrap, more like a ultra thin pancake. For it was not foldable - the wrap was toasted to a crisp and very nutty and grainy! Lovely with the cheese sauce within. I must admit I ate the fish separately - didnt want the wrap to dilute the taste of the tender fish. The sprouts by the side was most interesting.

LS also had the wrap but with sprouts instead, TW had the prawn pasta (too stiff!) and Mr C the hoggie - with baguette. It was a strange site to see 3 men eating organic, dainty brunch style food.

This place serves seafood and vegetables mainly - and too bad for my second round of coffee- the maintainace guys came so we had the last of the available coffee.

And I was so happy to find the elusive quinoa!!

D24 from Ice cream gallery - I must say I havent had a durian ice cream in an uber long time. The last was prob sharing scoops or just tasting portions. The last full blown durian I had on my own could possibly on a stick.

Went to change money at Chinatown (max cash out at 2k!), pick tri colored top, forgot the paper unds, then J didnt wanna let me do the groceries so we ended up at Kallang Leisure Park to top up the dinner stuff (other than the loaf and the salmon sitting in the fridge since Mon....).

The above was actually Mon's contingency plan in case the cous cous grains refuse to behave... Smoked salmon, roe, Philly's cream cheese, Multi grain bread from Swissbake. Yes there was ALOT of bread.... and I discovered the three types of roe..enlightenment

Somehow the mixed spinach volume was alot less than the plain pure spinach. New addition of corn, pecan. Bought croutons of the seasoned kind, but had to finish the Italian ones.

Thank goodness didnt open the chowder...

And there's still blueberries..yoghurt..

Intricately done up leftovers.... ;) thks to the one who DIDNT finish it up!

Booked the H Park and Fitzwilliam. Yay we are all set. Poor thing for the last min journal club/research PLUS call..us both. blardi tight time better fly fast.

Ben and Jerry's , X men

On a Tues when AM was clinic cover while lap choles were going on, and PM was colonic ops which ended surprisingly early, after sending short back J came by to go for dinner before X Men at 950pm. Wanted try out Roadhouse at Dempsey but despite the sign saying we're open, to the contrary its not! Disappointment ++ and it was already close to 9pm so we had to settle for Ben and Jerry's at Dempsey.

I had the Super mix and match of New York fudge, Cherry Garcia and Strawberry cheesecake. I realise its quite a fruit overdose and I really misst Dublin Mudslide loads. He had a waffle with the new Peanut Butter flavour (which he claims is not new). Waffle was too nuah for us both!

Caught X Men at the Great world city Grand - quite glad we caught it on the big screen instead of the lido small one. Solid storyline and the action is not as overwhelming as Transformers. And I finally got to try Garrett's popcorn! The cheesecorn tastes very much like atas cheezels. Picture with B1/B2 fail before a slow drive back (as compared to the rush to!).

Papa Palheta, Pluck

Thought we might get a chance at getting the whole day off, but in the end it turned out to be still not escaping from the angiejolie presentation in the am (no questions asked abt list and no icu folks to present too), before heading to an extremely light reg clinic (where i only saw one cervical ln) then fetched the girls over to sgh, passing by the gorgeous scenery in the glorious sunlight on the way to the accreditation. Sadly all the cold cut trios went to all the important people and I was left with the egg mayos ;( tastes exactly like the bengawan solo sandwiches.

Pretty impressive, popped up mostly during the interview and the only thinking qn was what we would change abt it, went round the table with jl concurring with myself haha. D just killed us all with funds, but otherwise cross our fingers we don't have to go thru it again!!

Lingered till another round happened with the faculty and to the mo room where W counselled us on our first month insecurities (you're really the man....) we persuaded pek to forgo a bilat hernia to join us at Papa Palheta (140 Bukit Timah Road), where caffeine happiness lies. Gosh its soooo difficult to locate this place! Enter by Hooper Road, and its NOT facing the main road. Its the back lane. And when you enter it feels like trespassing into someone's backyard. Kitchen in the backyard. Very limited bar-window seats in air con comfort, but cos it was a cloudy rainy day it was also quite pleasant to hang out outside.

And the first greeting was, Hi there there's no menu and you girls look like you do ice coffee.

Yes sir. Any milk based ones?

Yeah...latte, cappucino, flat white

Yay flat white for me please, followed by Latte for Wans and Cappucino for short. Only gripe is that there is no food (food is everything to me, and I was craving for a cake). Drinking coffee here seems to be as strict as eating sushi under the eyes of a strict watchful japanese chef. No sugar allowed okay. But fair enough, the steamed milk gives this natural sweetness none of us needed to add the sugar after. We all LOVED the coffee. (though I'd love love soy latte, which they said upfront they don't do) Here all payment is in the form of tips but the guiding price is $4 each..Quite a bold concept to have here, where the tipping culture is not in vogue.

The trio of us wanna aspire to be the watch shopping trio one of these days, and halt all questions on why this. Concurring on the rawness of the juniors and the seemingly apologetic self for being in this programme is the most frustrating. Nonetheless this marks the end of the first month and having survived the culture shock of the different ball game.

Abintan came to join us midway, with a very sleepy post night. Amused greatly by the marathons and the agony. Short and him left for dinner with frens whilst Pek was MOST tempted to follow me down to Haji Lane (with utmost difficulty in parking) and I happily loaded on accessories (necklace, ring were mini joys) and we spent a good two hours there. We dropped by Pluck (Haji Lane) to have ice-cream - Nuts and Honey ( Walnuts in Honey icecream) and Butter Pecan. I chose the former while Pek chose the later and I really am a fan of the former. Reminds me of the ice cream at KPO. Butter Pecan on the other hand makes me miss Gelare! The one at holland v and citylink mall has closed so...where're you now?

Pek's stamina to shop and to bother to try all the dresses (though getting nothing) amazes me. Must check out her Pickering Street shop soon. Miss you woman.

Oriole Lunch

Met up with Jo and Jills on Jills bd (happy bd!! hope you like the sketchbook of heels ;)). Re arranged for lunch to be earlier. I was quite indignant I didnt get to try the brunch cos we met on a Saturday, and they only served brunch on Public holiday (which was yesterday) and Sunday (which is tomorrow). Bummer. But anyways was happy enough to meet the girls and to get the office jacket from Jills. Thanks loads!!

So here we are at Oriole (Pan Pacific Suite) ,my favourite hangout in town for great coffee. Citrus Sin and Chilli Chocolate Mocha are by far my favourite too. After a while, they kinda tasted similar. Haha. I must have been distracted by conversation.

Calamari was really good and dusted with good stuff. Spice and nice.

Squid ink pasta with crabmeat - this was delicious too. We wanted to relive the squid ink days of Ma Maison so here we were trying squid ink out again. Tangy with the tomatoes and indulging in chunks of crabmeat.

Philly cheesesteak was a favourite too, heavenly between toasted buns. This makes me miss the steak sandwiches from Morton's.

Desserts - of which Honey crumble Affogato's still the all time favourite.

We walked to Uniqlo where Jills has already decided on her prison garb, whilst was at HMV trying to source for cheap ear phones but of cos couldnt find any. Jills had to go back to change to head to attica to continue her bd fun whilst Jo was also heading back so I was back shopping again. Bliss is team2 ;)

eM, Pluck, 4Fingers BonChon

Eggs Royale - eM by the River
Rosti - eM by the River
Mudpie - Pluck
Rum and raisin and Lychee Martini, Earl Grey and Fig and Sea Salt caramel - Pluck Haji Lane Sunday Bazaar

Sunday being post post call, being damn zombified after a horrifying fri call with zilch sleep and 14 admissions, handb a trauma and another vascular. that call slept in the morning and did changes till 4pm. and still left out a d/c (thanks shah). Sunday was in at 630 to greet a late sz and then changes helped by my date (thanks loads) with the preop/gxm/off cvp thanks thanks!!;) and of cos for paying for my wings;) both cloth and flesh. haha.

After work date and i zoomed off to eM by the river (Level 1, Gallery Hotel). Parking was okay cos we found a parallel lot (and i didnt get fined). Much of eM was alfresco with a smaller indoor area. Of cos we sat indoors and resorted to sitting at the bar. Only after our brunch (lunch actually cos i took 2 hours after date's 1030am 8 pts and coming at 8am), did we shift to a more comfy high-ish sofa seat.

The eggs ben and royale looked damn good so we ordered one each. It was DAMN GOOD INDEED! tasted as good as it looked. Big poached eggs, buttery hollandaise sauce, buttery toast, salmon....the best things in life (are not free).

I was between the quesidilas and the rosti (actually, on second thought, should have ordered both).. and went for the rosti (classic) in the end. it came with a sunny side up. It tasted like a shredded potato pancake - very thin, crisp at the edges, and fantastic with the extra sour cream we asked for on the side (which the small boy we bullied scurried to get lol). Service was a bit meh, when he had to refer to someone to take our order and we joked about the photos. haha.

Of cos, everytime we meet, its all about readin Female, more Female, the food section at Her World, and lastly Shape (hahahaha). and the Sunday times gave me ideas to go to Pluck for our dessert.

So with the help of her handy Tom Tom (aussie days, sigh), we headed thru Hill St. horrid parking. horrid 2 rounds. past the same yellow ferrari which has the right to atracious parking and still subject to photography ;P lucky we found one by the perpendicular road. Headed to Pluck (31/32 Haji Lane) to be greeted by a bazaar - felt like australia's markets, date said. its summer there now, and yes it feels as good as aussie. Nicely crowded with hippies and youngies, browsed thru the shops which were air-conditioned and got sponsored wings. thanks date ;)

Found a nice window seat beside beside a window with a bustling scene outside, we settled for Earl Grey and Fig and Sea Salt caramel, and Rum and raisin and Lychee Martini. The first 3 were awesome possum! Lychee's better over at Seventh heaven.Much muchos. Loved the whole vintage workup of Pluck.

Post prandial found a nice gold leafy ring, and after that, headed to town after to the Mango sale and we were aghast at the crowds. eveyrwhere. including the paragon carpark, which is quite affordable on a sunday night per entry. Found a lot quick and headed to Mango where the queue was not mad. And where I tried 3 pants (a brown satin one) of which the fit was not great/shiny/tight/longish. Need lotsa trousers in a man-some job.
Headed to Ion to get icecream - passed by Happy Lemon (Basement 4, Ion Orchard) to buy a Green tea and sea salt and Cheese drink which tasted exactly like the Heaven and Earth green tea overprized. To jill's recommendation man haha. But 4fingers Bonchon (Basement 4, Ion Orchard) never disappoints- but they ran out of fries!!! and burger!!!! and so date only got to try the wings, which the soy garlic was the favourite- i prefer the spicy. Fingers did not need cleaning at all - its exactly 4 fingers used, and no sauce sticking to fingers. peeeeerfect.
Found Cocoa trees at the basement too and blew 45 bucks - 2 HUGE herseys, 1 HUGE Ritters, another LOOONNG pastilles. and sponsered the country kiddies bueno for date ;)

Headed to Kino after that to get Jump which i found I didnt like, so browsed more manga but didnt get any. Shall get during sale. Wanted to go Cova but decided home's icecream was better. Home to concuss to another call...life revolves around call now, med is indeed, a calling.

Strictly Pancakes

A reminder to Kels to please come half hour after our stipulated meeting time esp post work - today one of my pts had to have his op cancelled cos needed to be nkf-ed; in the end there was a massive delay. And spent most part of the early aftern watching a lap gastrect; mr C is super hilarious in the ot his exclamations in droppin the LN in some dark corner is really funny. Love the atmosphere in the ot till kt went off...and got replaced by a smallie. Gosh that smallie has big airs.
Anyways, confusion between dhoby and outram aside, we took a long stroll to Strictly Pancakes (44A Prinsep Street), past the very new and gorgeous School of the Arts. Great architecture there. We found ourselves in a very homely second floor, and shifted to our own corner, in a very comfy sofa seat and gentle lighting. Love the homeliness of this place, very much like the Merry Men.
We chose this savoury : Potatoes, Leek and Cheese Pancakes - came with mushrooms.
We also added a side of the very creamy scrambled eggs - you can add a side at $2.50 and there are loads of options to choose from: mushrooms, eggs, meat, etc. You can also choose your choice of butter: we chose garlic and herb (instead of the very interesting rum and raisin butter). I must say this was a chunky pancake! It wasnt as cheesy as Kels would have liked it, but its a lovely savoury choice. When you top the pancake with maple syrup (sweet and salty) and some garlic and herb butter it becomes quite amazing.

The peanut butter pancakes with nutella filling and kinderbueno, vanilla bean icecream was quite ingenous. We sliced the pancakes right in half to share, and it felt like we were eating a layered cake. Layers of peanut butter batter with nutella is really quite a loadful of normal sandwich filling, but we werent complaining. It was mighty comfort food, esp when loaded my icecream, anytime.

And what you must REALLY TRY, is the chocolate peanut butter milkshake! It is TOTALLY AMAZING! Its Reese's in a cup, I tell you, All pureed and juiced up. Its really really delicious. Much more interesting than the normal peanut butter milkshake at Once upon a Milkshake.

We strolled all the way to Tom's Palette (Level One, Shaw Towers) and Chronos was already closing shop (at 10pm) but he kindly asked Eunice who very kindly took out the tub of the Salted egg icecream. And guess what! They asked us to sample first though we asked them straight up to just give us a cup each! Thats how patient they were despite closing up already! (i guess we must have looked damn gian plus sweaty lol;P) OMG! This was another amazing thing we ate that day. Its a little hard to imagine what Salted egg icecream could taste like; its super innovative - bit of salted egg within the icecream - its a salty ice cream that Kels like. After a while I felt like I was eating moon cake as thats the only sweet thing salted egg could be in. Super yummy though.

We ended up walking thru City Hall to the new underpass all the way thru Esplanade! I was quite amazed at how Raffles City had changed (the Canale exploded, suddenly), past the newly renovated (or expanded?) basement where I finally got to see the menu of Gong Cha, thru the underpass pass the many many 7-11s (we were really thirsty) to Esplanade. We wanted to drink at Orgo but it was closed for a private event when I had this crazy idea to go to Butter - but in the end we settled at the Starbucks at Fullerton sipping on our Mango Passion Fruit, reading my spankin new Makansutra 2011 (thanksssssss!) and my Black Butler. I seem to be amusing everyone with my new phase of reading manga....very funny meh??? I'm only trying to improve my chinese. And much too lazy to plough through a wordy novel. I fall asleep within 3 pages of manga and thats already not many words and characters lol. And of cos our plans to club fell thru cos the queue was mad and so we walked back to Esplanade when the ATM ran out of cash (gosh) and I saw a bus (at 1215pm) so happily took it to nearer home to cab back. When I texted Kels I realised she really really didnt mind clubbin so I really not going on our virgin experience (nv ever ever been anywhere with her even in hk) but anyway, no misses, cos our night was just perfect. Miss our adventures in med sch muchos;)

The Merry Men

from our lounge seats - epitome of chill
super cool shelves

First Saturday after changeover was great for catching up on sleep - missing brunches suggested by chongs/xh/zh but eventually met chongs for dinner that turned to supper (the meal officially ended at midnight). That was a great treat post mummy dragging me to buy sports shoes at queensway - couldnt find mine but was so glad could find hers, ie i could just buy at my leisure. Goes to show how long i havent ran - being forced to buy for my italy trip lol. by hook or by crook.

We met at Kino (where I traded my book 3 cos i bought two copies of les gouttes the same one!! and picked up my two new morbid mangas i pre-ordered). gonna create a shelf soon to store my growing collection of manga. Really wondering whether I should get a Kino card but I think not for the moment otherwise I'd really go crazy during those members only sales. Shopping for chongs work shoes was a lil unsuccessful so we ended up hurrying to The Merry Men (86 Robertson Quay), which was quite a mean walk from the usual Robertson Quay area I was used to. This place is even further up from Boomerang over a bridge. That row of shophouses housed Bacchus (which I wanna try soon) and Bar Bar Black Sheep. Never knew BBBS was so class! the one at bt timah that im so used to is overtly casual I guess.
When we got there the indoors was completely empty! The al fresco area was full though. We happily lounged in the sofa with the conjoint pillows and it was so cosy it felt like home. Esp since we were facing the tv (it was showing bpl, which had figuresticks to tiny to watch). Eventually in came a big group of young boys downing beer and totally engrossed in the ball, not distracted by passing girls. Also saw j he and jkok there. This totally feels a place that Chongs might open. And I'l be her official icecream supplier ;) Deviled Eggs - simply hard boiled eggs with treated yolks

Spaghetini Crabmeat Aglio Olio - Chongs and I loved this loads. Done al dente with great bight and flavour from the chilli flakes.
Cheese sticks - stuffed with mozarella.
Blue cheese burgers - I tend to love mini burgers now, esp since when the fries overwhelm the burgers.
Truffled shoestring fries - we tend to forget that normally burgers come with fries (tho the above ones didnt come with truffled fries which we wanted). and oh boy this was a HUGE ass portion!!!!!!! Was eventually lounging back on our couch watching soccer and munching on the fries (I was, mostly lol). Chongs has lousy fries stamina now, and I think I'm well trained by Kels.

We ate till the match ended at midnight - past somebody's bd at the outdoors, and we took a stroll round the river and beyond - actually it led all the way past two bridges (loadsa merry making, love making) past condos (which i wished i stayed in so i can crash post party) and hotels, towards zouk - we walked round the back of zouk past a very very very nice lambo, down the entire stretch past grand copthorne and river view. Saw the aspects of zouk/robertson quay that I never knew existed. Chongs was imagining walking her non existent dog (which she'd also dress in a costume for halloween!!!!) when we saw someone walking dogs and dropping them as she walked them (three of them with super short legs). The one super hilarious event we would imagine was if we were indeed costuming as police - and we blew the whistle and loudhailer would anyone bother (cos the hotel manager actually chided the officers for turning a blind eye on the punks)

We eventually decided to costume watch at Clarke Quay. Got rather fascinated with huai ren car and hei ren at the car park. Lotsa construction workers that night, zen man, swimwear lady, swimwear twins. Super bizarre human behaviour that night.

We got tired of squeezing with the crowds (it really felt like a club in clarke quay!!!!!- although we went to none altho we were tempted to go pump). So like laozabors, we just plonked at Haagan Daz (Clarke Quay) to enjoy this Royal Monte Carlo - supposed to be coffee and cappucino truffle ice cream with waffles, but the waiter let us choose our flavours - originally planned for dark chocolate orange and caramel biscuit , but they gave us an extra scoop in the end, cos they put in cappucino truffle instead. Still this was a great combi of ice cream (cos its three scoops, yeah). Its too enjoyable to sit and eat or drink, then to bounce our ass off on the dance floor or go around scaring people or taking pictures with interesting costumes. Lost that halloween spirit, sadly. Will soon be a parent dispensing the trick/treat lol...... Chongs and I loved how some parents brought their tiny tots out dressed in costume (tho one was in a pram, scary).

Seventh heaven

Final day with sips and after a long long day of 8! electives we finally managed to exit and lounged in the room before zipping off to 63 (cos we totally forgot about the list), and finally, with xh in krith's car and yx in mine we went to Seventh Heaven (Raeburn Park, Marketing Institute of Singapore), with the help of yx's google maps. Totally need gps to come here cos its so damn out of the way.
And we had a near scare cos the nearby restaurant was closed. And Seventh Heaven was empty, too!
It was kinda like ice cream for dinner cos of xh's vascular buffet lunch and my super duper late lunch. Thank goodness for compulsory breakfasts these days...

We chose The Matrix ; the 12 samplers - its quite worth it, for huge scoops in cupcake trays; this features their bestsellers so we asked so which flavours will these be? and the waiter then said, oh actually, all our flavours are bestsellers.....doh....we managed to charm him to include the following: - Chocolate whiskey, blackforest, Rum and Raisin, Peanut butter, Seasalt and caramel, Milo Dinosaur, Lychee Martini, Chocolate and Carbanet. The other flavours as a surprise : - matcha, 2 sorbets (that none of us liked), black sesame.

My favourite was the Chocolate Whiskey (though after a while, it seemed to have clearly separated); other favourites were the lychee martini (they always get it right here) and Peanut butter.

Should have seen our faces when this tray came; our faces totally lit up!!

And they wanted to challenge me to the Holy Grail; 30 scoops of ice cream in 25 minutes and its on the house.......

We wanted to move on to have cakes too but they ran out.....really wanted to try A Very Tall Cake (Peanut butter and chocolate!) Looks like a great excuse to visit. Esp the discovery of the ice cream tray; gosh gonna be dreaming of that during calls. So we had the waffle with french vanilla ice cream (the ice cream is the highlight, actually); which we're not gonna miss cos 1. its not warm; 2. its got a cookie-biscuit like texture, very unlike your regular crisp/dense waffles elsewhere. Love the crisp waffles loads I must have it soon (you hear, Kels?)
Much angst about previous teams (xh and krith's about the songs they had to sing om); its really so nice to bump into fellow batchmates along the way and have spontaenous lunches/coffees/icecream outings like these. Such is a perk with having college mates as colleagues!

Once upon a milkshake (*scape), Fish and Co (Ion Orchard)

Maple Syrup, Rum and Raisin, Chocolate Truffle (clockwise from top) - Once Upon a Milkshake

Fish and Chips - Fish and CoSilver Cod In Miso Sauce - Fish and Co
Love black diamonte watches so so much and adding more to my collection
Actually planned on an outing to one of the Japanese cake places oft been mentioned, but cos car was due for a change in ramp at 2 pm - so car-less means duxton/annsiang was outta reach and so mummy and i headed to town getting a lift from the serviceman using our car =P

We got off at Orchard Central and eventually drifted to 313;popped by oriole but decided not for coffee;cakes at de ste looked too small;so we ended up having milkshakes and icecream at Once Upon a Milkshake where we spotted shan and rozz waiting outside. I was gonna gulp those milkshakes and go out to get a pic with them but they left earlier than we could finish. We were just wondering what they were doing hanging out at the porch but that was answered when their friend came to pick them up!

Once upon a milkshake (Level 1, *scape) is having a promotion of 3 scoops of ice cream for $5.50 incredibly cheap for yummily smoothy milky icecream. (think its till the end of Sept so hury!its their opening special.) The trio of flavours we chose were chocolate truffle, rum and raisin, and maple syrup. We loved how alcoholic the rum was.

We also ordered an Agent Strawberry and it was sourish to say the least - this milkshake is definitely more towards the yoghurty side (ie not my type!!)

We then moved towards Mandarin Gallery where I got a new watch courtesy of Mommy and the nice salesgirl who gave us the OCBC discount =) black watches with diamond studs are just so my thing.

We browsed more at Taka/Wisma to pick up my new skirt and I happily bought my first copy of the Oishinbo series - i bought the Joy of Rice - its a series of Japanese food culture and history and it is so interesting and lighthearted its def the best reading material to start with after the exam hull. Happiness=)
and Fish and co (ion orchard) has gotta buck up! mommy's fish and chips did not hold up - the batter and fish crumbled way too easily while my silver cod in miso sauce was not as fresh as i hoped to be..maybe have eaten way too many great cods around. But still a fan of the paella rice that fish and co serves. daddos picked us up at borders but not before we discovered the wrapping for our Marks and Spencers All round chocolate biscuits have changed so we went on a merrygoround hunt for it!

Huber's Butchery, Artisteq

It was a day when I slept in but Chongs was restless to go after her unaccountable post mort meeting with kdr so we went off for brunch at Dempsey. Sadly House doesnt offer brunch on weekdays (it was a bright cheery Tuesday morning) and so we circled around. There's a new section at Dempsey and we happened to spot these two interesting cars.
So after almost exiting Dempsey, we spotted Huber's Butchery (Dempsey) and so we decided to take a chance. Im glad we did!
Gnocchi in Blue cheese is one big artery clumping chunk of happiness. Extremely dense pasta loaded chunk in smooth cheese, it was yumms!
My veal stew - was extremely tender and delicious. I substituted the mash with fries. Signature fries in fact but they tasted like macs actually.
Xue's beef burger. Equally good burger. Expected since its essentially a butchery so meats were extremely fresh.
This place is extremely pocket friendly but be prepared to sit in the heat.
The cow basks in heat the whole day long...
We browsed around Mandarin Gallery before the movie Monga and found this eerily amusing..
Popped by at Artisteq (Mandarin Gallery)... We really had too much time before Monga but we are not complaining...
We had an ice coffee with the dark chocolate icecream and we LOVED the ice cream! really dark and dense and delicious.
Iced Earl grey tea with ginger ice cream - this was less impressive than the one above. We wished more of the ice creams were available- we would have loved to try the vanilla champagne ice cream.
Monga is a smashing movie - i just love how colourful the characters and background is- the underworld is amazing, the dynamics of it. I also love how aggressive yet hilarious the hokkien language is. Esp now that i utilise it at work so often =P I shall rent it for home, i bet gran will love the movie loads!
