Some mini wagyu sliders and a serviette full of fries to kick off the stereosonic planning and the shogun night. Crisp quality fries with some addictive cheese sauce;) The American Chinese dude is not bad indeed ! Ps. Very expensive drinks here - the coffee and the juice cost 16 bucks each!

Burnt ends
Snagged the last two bar seats at Burnt Ends (Teck Lim Road) - you can actually phone up between 6-630 pm after which they don't take phone reservations. We were lucky ;-) (even with parking). There is a separate bar seating for people to wait for the main bar seats- and just one private table that seats four further in.
We quite like the dynamic atmosphere here and watching the chefs at work- j had lots of fun with his kinotopic.
Salmon skin with ikura- interesting take on this Japanese appetiser. It's an all in one.
Smoked beef- dressed lightly and matched the sweet biscotti.
Lamb and goats cheese crostini(left the burnt ends of the bread behind lol). It's a great combination which I think I will try to do next time.
Smoked quail eggs- love the runny yolk. Also an option to add truffle.Squid with corn and leek. Not as smokin as our smoked octopus at dada.
This kingfish is uber sweet über tender and went well with the Japanese seaweed. Prob second best dish of the night.

The honor goes to this onglet- which j told me its actually the skirt cut. Minimal fat and rare, yet charred on the outside- recommended!! Better than the skirt at Skirt IMHO;)
Went back to reassess and to await eot, before planning out our trip. Exciting with a plan in place ;-)

Kith (quayside isle)
Thanks to the Paris trio for asking me out to finally check out Kith at sentosa( where wans is a regular !!). Lovely hearty portions indeed, and the cakes look worth a try next time. Took a stroll round W and one degree 15 though it was way too hot. Finally booked more Japan stuff today before dinner. Looking forward to more leisurely strolls ;)

Bomba
Great treating ourselves two days in a row ! Finally landed ourselves at Bomba, Martin road, to try out the ever elusive paella. Booked bar seats by the window;)
This tortilla is more like a potato pancake than an egg omelette layered with potato. And nah that ain't uni over there. Los primos still rocks my tortilla world.
Nothing that's grilled escapes us now! This grilled octopus is not as smokin as the one at foodbar dada but still was yums with the mash.

Classic paella. Tasty and simple but we would like more seafood :p only half a crab here ! Makes us think of la cicalas though - tinge of regret not choosing the squid ink one tonight.
Boisterous atmosphere and hearty food - but prob spoilt by our previous experiences at other places. Lovely still ;)

The Fabulous Baker Boy
Wow ! Am a big fan of The Fabulous Baker Boy at The Foothills, Fort canning park. Visited a vintage sale at Bacchanalia at the masons club (actually thought we could brunch there but they only had bar food for the boys!) then browsed furniture and lomocameras at Armenian, before we headed here.
It has a huge terrace for al fresco dining - groups of friends and families here, even a group of cosplay girls- made for quite interesting people watching. We perched on the stools looking out to the road facing Clarke Quay ( only 4 seats here, seems like its only meant for 2 couples at a time).
This big breakkie has got to be the best ever. Pure joy with eggs, brioche, beef bacon, mushrooms all together in one mouthful!!
The Guiness beef pie was a little sinewy - the beef. Was spying on the pumpkin goat cheese salad at my neighbour's.
Visited the public flea market at the MICA building after - loads of art galleries and even an art gallery dedicated to Singa lion and all his friends ( who are now extinct, by the way). Was quite happy to see Oriole there so I could get my mocha fix ( fab didn't serve mocha cos they were purist lol)

Carpenter and cook
Goodbye to those protected, carefree days, scudwork and menial tabling. Hello to more expectations and accountability and team management and decision making. How apt it is to enjoy these last moments in a vintage eatery like Carpenter and Cook in Lorong Kilat and say good bye to history ( with my favoritest resfren) and with the farewell at Rice table (oh my, the price must have doubled since I ate there though the sayur lodeh and the fried egg tofu is still as good as ever). Helloyellorego.
By the way, the cakes here rock. The banoffee pie had the most wonderful, lightest cream in the right proportions to the base and bananas, and the salted caramel chocolate tart was very balanced too. Mmm. Just don't come here thinking you can eat big eggs and big breakfasts. It's for dainty girls to have tea and cake... Though I most certainly do not belong to that demographic( though I don't mind idling away that way ...)

Supprette
Finally gotta meet the bestie for dinner after some ahem, nagging. Thank goodness for my friendly walkie talkie GPS friends to find Supprette at Kam Leng Hotel. Gotta say the decor was rather boutique hotelish, though the exterior screams sleaze. Even the restaurant screams of an up class coffee shop.
Scallops and mushrooms.
Am a fan of the juicy burger

Even with the second serving of fries that came with this grilled vegetables and mushrooms burger, we ordered a third serving of fries. I must say best friends and fries is the ultimate combination ;-)

The Skirt wagyu burger
Thursday two in one celebration for dad at Skirt, W Hotel at Sentosa. ;) we were given a table right in front of their open kitchen so we were initially browsing quayside isle for more( the fish place looks worth a try), but still came back.would love to try the outdoor area (now open for dining) to chill at - kinda packed with standing guests.
The open face wagyu burger. Rather juicy piece of patty.
Awesome sides of spinach and cheese, garlic fries and earth mushrooms x2.
Grilled mixed vegetables.

Goto Japanese Restaurant
First kaiseki meal with mummy on my second day of leave and the first spent locally :p
Highlight of the first course is prob the uber smooth and dense sesame tofu. The sashimi was divine - my tops was the scallop, mummy's was conch ( with plum sauce ). There was also tuna, flatfish, amberjack and squid.
Next was the highlight for me - striped jack it was very sweet ... Amazing . Prob the best slab of fish for me ever...
The other dishes of tofu and winter melon soup, grilled onigiri was pretty unremarkable.1
Dessert was a trio of sorbet, English tea mousse and fruit.
Doing nails together and having a great set lunch .. Can't wait for more mommy time ;) maybe shinji next time.

Yello tail, flat fish, Tuna, conch with plum sauce , (the most amazing) scallop and squid.

Strangers reunion
Brunch two weekends in a row at the same place, in scrubs. Respite outside is always great, especially when two is company and three is a welcome crowd;) thanks for being a sport y'all;)
Magic first weekend, soy mocha second weekend and I'm a new fan of the eggs royale here ( after the yoghurt which has sadly lost its bulk of the granola). If you order eggs here, you should come in groups of two for they only have two stoves in their tiny kitchen ! Everything is tiny weeny here, their chairs (or rather stools ...) , tables etc... Can't wait for them to expand :)

French ladle
Scopes am/asc pm, finished on time and for once, full attendance on the dot at dinner place , French Ladle at Pandan Valley condo. Love the convenience here- near home , free parking right in front of the restaurant.
Excellent warm and cosy atmosphere, felt like I was being hosted for a dinner at someone's home. Lots of magazines to browse too, am sure it will be nice to hang around post brunch on a weekend. We shared the truffle fries ( with lots of Parmesan cheese ) and French onion soup. ( lots of sweetened onions ). I had the board special- the barramundi which came with mash and butter. Ended up koping most of xuans fries and salad after she was done with her steak:p Pek had a mushroom risotto.
Enjoyed our convos about human behavior and food webs haha. Can't wait for our next French date (prob at toots or shelter in the woods!)/dirty dancing.

Hatched
Slept in on Vesak and managed to roll out for breakfast /brunch/lunch / tea at a grand time of 3 pm. The late night at music matters was quite a killer:p
We went to Hatched at Holland Village - after we thought that the Park menu was too tiny( but I will still try that place sometime ). I had my usual eggs royale and j had a burger with eggs. I ordered a portabello mushroom and eggplants thinking it was an appetizer but it turned out to be a main-
Burger style. Kinda overkill before Tennis but thank goodness it was not another killer. Thanks garmaine for having us over, we didn't make it to Boyce in the end :p
